Food

It is important to eat good food that provides nutrition and energy until the next meal.

Eat healthy food and lots of fruit and vegetables!

It is often easier said than done. Many with neuropsychiatric disabilities are sensitive to smell, taste and texture. Many are impatient in connection with meals, many cannot handle the queue in the canteen and instead it is easier to drink soda and eat sweets and snacks. Therefore, it can be important to think about dietary supplements.

Eat oily fish often!

Oily fish contains omega 3 which is good for your health. Omega 3 is especially important for some that have ADHD. If one does not eat lots of oily fish, omega 3 supplements from fish oils are important.

Dyes and preservatives

Some people get more symptoms from too much dyes, especially in soft drinks and sweets.

Try to have as few dyes as possible.

Sugar cravings

Some people struggle with their "sugar cravings" and are often first excited and wound up by the sugar and then become very irritable when the blood sugar level drops. Healthy food and slow carbohydrates provide a smoother blood sugar curve which favors a more even mood and better concentration. Try to get a hearty breakfast and a steady lunch.
