Difficulties in social interaction

Young people with autism have a greatly reduced ability to interact with others. They give poor eye contact and it is difficult to see if they are happy or sad. They seem unable and uninterested in socialising with others and cannot handle contacts with friends. Young people with autism do not spontaneously want to share activities with others and often withdraw from body contact, unless they may take the initiative themselves.
